Correct fluid pressure helps insure sufficient lubrication coolant reach cutting zone

  • Greater times Ø hole depths and higher velocity cutting parameters typically require higher coolant pressures be utilized
  • The volumes givenare based on water pumped through nominal orifice diameters. Pressure fluctuations, variation inorifice area, specific gravity of fluid, temperature of fluid, frictional losses or inadequately filtered chips clogging orifice(s) will alter volumes shown.
  • Coolant filtration prevents clogged holes, protects mating components, increases hole accuracy and extends tool life. Roughing applications require 74 to 149 micron (200
    to 100 mesh) filtration. Closest hole accuracies require 5 to 25 micron filtration.

1 micron = .001mm = .00003937 inch

Lack of proper holder seal decreases coolant velocity.

Use of a sealed collet or other coolant sealing system is recommended
for optimal tool life and chip evacuation.
